Over the last few months I’ve done a number of posts called ‘Slogans’. Today it’s time for another one!

In my previous “Slogans” posts, I mentioned how we all see and hear many adverts on a daily basis via advertising hoardings or adverts on the radio, television  magazines and newspapers.

Today again I want to give you some more slogans to see how many of the companies/organisations associated with them you can identify from their slogans?

  1. Refreshes The Parts Other Beers Cannot Reach
  2. A hazelnut in every bite
  3. Has it changed your life yet?
  4. We are one
  5. You only get an ‘OO’ with…
  6. How do you eat yours
  7. Maybe She’s Born With It, Maybe It’s…
  8. Snap! Crackle! Pop!
  9. The power of cool
  10. The drive of your life

So that’s the slogans, how many do you think you know?

So here’s the answers…

  1. Heineken
  2. Topic
  3. Compaq
  4. Calvin Klein CK one
  5. Typhoo
  6. Cadbury’s crème egg
  7. Maybelline
  8. Kellogs Rice Crispies
  9. Davidoff Cool Water
  10. Peugeot

There were a few tricky ones in there, so if you got them all, well done!

I’ll be doing a few more of these in the coming weeks/months, so keep watching the adverts and remembering the slogans!

I’ve done a few Word Associations with you over the last while, and today it’s time for another one. So as usual I’m going to throw some words at you, and I want you to note down the first word that comes into your mind when you read each word.

So here goes…

  1. Bottle
  2. Bacon
  3. Peg
  4. Smart watch
  5. Soup
  6. Lyrics
  7. Basket
  8. Ripple
  9. Wheel
  10. Framewords

So how did you get on with those words? Did you find it easy? Did your answers surprise you or were they just as you expected?

Well here’s my responses to my questions:

  1. Cough
  2. Eggs
  3. Clothes
  4. Blue
  5. Tomato
  6. Song
  7. Shopping
  8. Chocolate
  9. Car
  10. Crime

I still believe that when we respond with the first words that come into our minds, our answers tell us a lot about our emotional state, and what’s important to us at that particular point in time.

Bearing all this in mind, review your answers, does my theory hold true?

By the way, if you want me to explain any of my answers, just ask!

Home delivery

These days we can get home deliveries for just about anything, at just about any time of day. We can get some takeaways delivered to our homes from early afternoon or evening until midnight, so we can satisfy our hunger.

Or is it? It occurred to me the other night when I really fancied a bit cake or chocolate ad there was none in the house, that cakes/desserts/sweets are about the only things we can place a later night order for and get delivery within half an hour or an hour – Yes, I know we can our some restaurants/takeaways offer a small selection of desserts as part of some their takeaway offering, but it’s not really desserts I’m talking about here, it’s more chocolate and cakes.

Have I just identified a gap in the delivery market? I’m sure I can’t be the only person that’s wanted some cake or chocolate one night but found there was none in the house.

On the other hand, it’s probably better that I can’t get a late night delivery of cake or chocolate, as I’d never lose any weight then, as I’d be ordering chocolate or cake every night! 🙂

In the Christian calendar, Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter which is treated as a period of reflection and a time for fasting from food and festivities. It symbolises the days which lead up to Jesus’ crucifixion and subsequent resurrection when Christ spent 40 days and nights alone in the desert.

Every year Lent starts on Ash Wednesday (This year starting on 1st March) and finishes on Holy Thursday (This year the 13th April). While Lent is a 40-day period it is actually 46 days of lent, as Sunday’s are excluded.

These days lent has traditionally become a time when people give up something up such as chocolate, alcohol, caffeine, smoking, favourite foods or television.

How many of you have given up something for lent this year? Did you do so just because traditionally you give up something for lent, or because it is the lead up to Easter and so this is a time of reflection for you as well as a time for fasting from some of your favourite things?

I pray that this lent as you reflect and/or give up one of your favourite things, you take time to remember Christ’s sacrifice for us, and reflect on your relationship with God.

Were any of your answers the same as mine? Did any of my answers confuse you? Did any of your own answers confuse you?

I’ve said in previous word association posts that I find I get a bit stressed when I’m doing them as I put a lot of pressure on myself not to over think my answers! Are you relaxed when you do them or do you find it stressful too?

In the last little while I’ve noticed there are a number of things which many of us will put in the category of either “love them” or “hate them”. So today I thought I’d share with you some more of my love or hate things and see if you can guess which category they fall into for me:

  1. Diet juice
  2. Dark chocolate
  3. Classical music
  4. Bagpipes
  5. Online shopping
  6. Decaffeinated coffee
  7. Downton Abbey (TV show)
  8. Adidas clothing
  9. Disney films
  10. Technology

A bit of a mixed bag of things there isn’t it, but I wonder how many of them you correctly worked out that I love or hate, and how many we have in common…scroll down to find out my answers…

  1. Hate
  2. Hate
  3. Love
  4. Hate
  5. Love
  6. Hate
  7. Hate
  8. Love
  9. Love
  10. Love

So there you go, how many of my answers matched yours?

“Love” and “hate” are two very strong and very different emotions and if we are honest with ourselves I think we will probably find that rather than “loving” or “hating” the items I listed above, we really just “like” or “strongly dislike” them – Does that sound about right?.
