How many people do you know who would accept you just as you are?

How many people do you know who you would accept just as they are?

There is of course one person who accepts each of us, just as we are. In fact He encourages us to come, just as we are. It is of course God.

In the bible we read how Jesus encouraged everyone to come to him, with all their problems and worries:

Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. ~ Matthew 11:28 (The Passion Translation)

Jesus encourage everyone to come to him because he could provide the nourishment and help we each need. Who else can do that! Therefore no matter what your need, or what problems you face, come to God, because He can and will help you.

Rule

  • One of a set of explicit or understood regulations or principles governing conduct or procedure within a particular area of activity.
  • Control of or dominion over an area or people.

Let’s take a closer look at the second definition – control of or dominion over an area or people.

How is your life? Is your life controlled by others, say your kids, or your work?

When it comes to our relationship with God, He is always in control. And if we’ve given every part of our life to God, we have given him control of our life, so he can use us as He needs to tell others about His unconditional love for every one of us.

So let God rule your life, because that’s the only way we will ever experience true happiness, when He is at the centre of all we do.

Aftermath

Devastation, destruction, chaos, uncertainty – just a few words you might think of when you read the title of today’s blog post.

Do you think those words would have applied after Christ died on the cross?

In a moment of glorious surrender
You were broken for all the world to see
Lifted out of the ashes
I am found in the aftermath

The aftermath of Christ’s death is forgiveness for each of us, no matter how huge or insignificant our sins may be. What a wonderful aftermath! However it came at a cost for God, as he had to sacrifice his only son for us.

Aftermath by Hillsong

[Verse 1:]
The skies lay low where You are
On the earth You rest Your feet
Yet the hands that cradle the stars
Are the hands that bled for me

[Chorus 1:]
In a moment of glorious surrender
You were broken for all the world to see
Lifted out of the ashes
I am found in the aftermath

[Verse 2:]
Freedom found in Your scars
In Your grace my life redeemed
For You chose to take the sinner’s crown
As You placed Your crown on me

[Chorus 2 :]
In that moment of glorious surrender
Was the moment You broke the chains in me
Lifted out of the ashes
I am found in the aftermath

And in that moment You opened up the heavens
To the broken the beggar and the thief
Lifted out of the wreckage
I find hope in the aftermath

[Bridge:]
And I know that You’re with me
Yes I know that You’re with me here
And I know Your love will light the way

[Chorus 3:]
Now all I have I count it all as loss
But to know You and to carry the cross
Knowing I’m found
In the light of the aftermath

We’ve all heard people give examples of situations and events and say, “When your life depends on it”. But have you ever considered the phrase “when your death depends on it”?

For me when it comes to death, I am sure that if you have given your heart and your all to God, you can be assured of eternal life with God. Therefore, when we die our future depends on the decisions and promises we made during our life.

I therefore urge you to make sure you decide your future long before you die, by giving your all to God today.

What do you do when you’re going through the hardest of times:

  • Hide away from others;
  • Sit in a darkened room alone;
  • Think God has deserted you;
  • Stop communicating with others;
  • Become short-tempered with everyone;

While some or all of those things may be what you want to do when you’re going through a very tough time, here’s what you should do:

Captain – a person who is at the head of, or in authority over others; chief; leader.

Even when there is a leader, a captain, in charge it doesn’t mean everything will go smoothly for the team they are in charge of.

When you’re in a war and fighting a battle, and you have God as your captain, there’s no way you are not going to win! ~ Joyce Meyer

For us as Christians, God is our captain. However, even that doesn’t that mean that we won’t have to fight any battles?

Far from it, every day is a battle against evil! But it is a battle we can win if we keep following our captain, God.

Overcome

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Yes, we may struggle and face great difficulties, but isn’t reassuring that because we believe in God, we have the reassurance that He will always be there for us.

God will be with us at all time, not to necessarily end our struggles and difficulties there are then, but to give us the strength to face our these problems head on, so that we can learn and grow because we have experienced them.

Where is God in your list of priorities?

Is he up there with your family and friends, or is he an after-thought that you just consider when you’re not busy, or at your wit’s end?

You are the author of love
Our freedom is in your name
Embracing the cross meant for us
And bought us to life again

God gave us life, he loves us unconditionally, he sacrificed His Son for us – doesn’t He deserve to be to high on your priority list? I’d suggest he deserves to be top of your priority list, as you are top of his!

The First and the Last

You are the first and the last
Beginning and the end
The promise of wonders to come
The future is in your hands
Caught in the light
With all the earth we will sing

You are the author of love
Our freedom is in your name
Embracing the cross meant for us
And bought us to life again
Caught in the love
With all we are let us sing

God our hope
And our salvation
Worthy of all the praise
Be our light everlasting
Great is your name
Jesus the first and the last

Show us the way of your love
Lead us toward the truth
Stir up the fire in us
To live out this life for you
Caught in your name
Jesus forever we’ll sing

Every heart
Every nation will hear the sound
As your light breaks through the darkness
And your name rings out
Every distant horizon will meet as one
Singing holy is your name
We sing holy is your name

“not deserving respect or attention”

We hear people saying they are unworthy of receiving awards; or a particular person is unworthy of our trust; or when feeling depressed, people feel unworthy and weak. ~ These are just a few examples of when the word ‘unworthy’ is used.

Personally when I think of the word ‘unworthy’ it’s normally in relation to God. Not because  think God is unworthy of my trust and my love, but the complete opposite – While He is completely worthy of my trust and love, I in contrast, feel I am completely unworthy of His love and care. God gave so much for me, but what have I given Him in return?

I try each day to be the person God wants me to be, but I know continually disappoint Him. However I know God doesn’t give up on me, so with that assurance I know He will continue to help me.

Do you think there will ever be a time again when we can feel safe and secure in this world? Sadly I’m not sure there will ever be.

All we hear about these days is physical or emotional violence against someone or something all around the world. Are we living in the beginning of ‘end times’?

The bible tells us of many signs of end times, and the persecution of Christians around the world, is just one such sign. Personally it scares me that we may be living in end times, but at the same time it’s also quite exciting. Exciting because I believe Jesus is coming again, and that means He will judge each of us based on how we’ve lived our lives.

So at the end of time, if Jesus will judge each of us, isn’t it the case that we don’t have to judge any of our fellow human beings, no matter how what they may have done in their life.

It’s down to us as Christians to remind the world that Jesus loves all of us unconditionally, and spread his message of love and hope. God wants us to live in peace so let us each show love, compassion and mercy to everyone.
