I suspect at some time or another, we’ve all said or done things we’ve later regretted ‘in the heat of the moment’. Thankfully though, despite what we may say or do in the heat of the moment, there is one person who will always forgive us when we ask for his forgiveness, God!

God loves each and every one of us unconditionally, so don’t be dragged down by your past mistakes, instead be forgiven by the one who can offer true forgiveness!

If I were to ask you what it means to be a Christian, what would your answer be?

Here’s one great description of what it means to be a Christian:

Yes, God has, and continues to, forgive us of every sin we have ever committed, no matter how bad those sins may be. If God can forgive us of anything and everything, how can we possible justify not forgiving others for things they say or do which hurt us?

God loves us and forgives us, therefore we must love other and forgive them when they hurt us or let us down. It’s difficult, but if we ask God to help us, we can do it!

“And when you pray, make sure you forgive the faults of others so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you. But if you withhold forgiveness from others, your Father withholds forgiveness from you.”

Matthew 6:14-15 (The Passion Translation)

In Again and Again yesterday I told you how God forgives us over and over again when we hurt him. But as the above extract from Matthew’s gospel we are reminded that although God is willing to forgive us over and over again, we must give Him something in return – We must also be willing to forgive those who hurt us, even though that can be one of the most difficult things we ever do.

When we forgive others, we act more like Christ, and so we show God that we want to be more like Him. So remember, to be forgiven we must also forgive.

We may be forgiven, but there’s more to God’s love for us than just forgiving us…

Do you feel God’s love for you?
