We cannot love people if we are afraid of being hurt or taken advantage of. Perfect love casts out fear! ~ Joyce Meyer
Life can be tough sometimes can’t it? We make friends, we get into relationships, we become good friends, but then something happens which leaves us feeling hurt or taken advantage of. In turn this makes us reluctant to get into future relationships because we’re scared we will get hurt all over again.

True love however can help us overcome any fears we may have of being hurt again. The purest love is that given to us by God, and therefore His love can help us overcome any of our fears.

Begin again

Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever you’ve been through, it’s never too late to begin again. ~ Joyce Meyer

Another reminder at the start of this new year that God is still there for you. God will give you a second chance, a third chance…however many chances you need before you begin your life with Him at the centre of it.

What better words to start of the new year than these from Joyce Meyer:

God wants you to break free from your past and set your face toward your future with hope, courage, and expectation. And the best way I know to never give up on your future is to refuse to be trapped in your past.

We all have said and done things which we’re not proud of, and wish we could take back, but fortunately when it comes to God, He willingly forgives us, and wants us to look forward rather than back.

So at the start of this new year, no matter what previous years brought your way, look forward to 2017 and beyond with hope and expectation knowing that with your faith in God you can break free from your past.

On Monday, I suggested you be selfish sometimes and choose what’s best for you, and today I want to reaffirm this with the following quote from Joyce Meyer:

Sometimes making the most of your day means taking a moment for yourself.

Sometimes we can be so busy running about doing things for others, that we forget to take notice of how we are actually feeling ourselves.

So take a few minutes and stop what you’re doing in your busy day, and focus on you…consider how you are really feeling, physically and emotionally. If by doing this you realise that you’re struggling physically and/or emotionally, it’s definitely time you take some time out for yourself, so you can just chill and recharge your batteries.

Have you ever experienced this, either as the recipient or the giver?

courage-to-forgive

It can be hard not to retaliate when someone says or does something to hurt you. However if we return hatred with forgiveness, evil with love, hurtful words with prayer, we can do no more.

If we do nothing, how can we ever expect the world to find and acknowledge God?

We can often question why things happen to us, or those we love, but we’re always told that things happen for a reason. I think we all tend to think it’s part of God’s plan for us when these things happen, however here’s another though on who your challenging times may benefit, from Joyce Meyer

Sometimes we go through things that God will use for somebody else’s encouragement later on in life.

This is exactly why we need to share our life experiences with others, so that as well as showing others how we have come through adversity, it may inspire and challenge them also. Just remember that you may never know how much your story has encouraged someone else, simply believe that God will use you to inspire and encourage others.

Life can be tough sometimes, and sometimes it can feel like everything is going against you. What do you when you feel like that?

It can be difficult to get through tough times on our own, but we are never really on our own are we?

gods still working

God is always with us, even if it doesn’t seem like it sometimes. Just trust Him, He will get you through.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding ~ Proverbs 3:5

When things go wrong in your life, or you struggle to face each new day, who do you turn to?

Always go to God first when you have a problem. Do not go to the phone. Go to the throne. ~ Joyce Meyer

Sadly for many, even although they know God is the one person who can help us in every situation, the first person they will turn to when things go wrong are friends or family. Maybe we just need to keep reminding ourselves that God must always be the first person we turn to, so that it will become habit for us.

Let’s all make God our 1st choice in every situation.

As a perfectionist I must admit that it can be difficult to be ok with what I do sometimes when it doesn’t measure up to the high expectations I place on myself. Over the years I have come to realise that this is both a curse and a blessing which I know might sound like a complete contradiction, so let me explain…

  • A blessing because in expecting perfection in all I do it drives me to do my best in everything.
  • A curse because in expecting perfection from myself, I set my expectations far to high so I fail which in turn means I chastise myself because I’ve not don’t things perfectly.

I am still a perfectionist, and I guess I always will be, but I try not to be as critical of myself when I don’t succeed as I maybe used to be…though I am still feel disappointed with myself when I don’t do things 100% right!

How can I expect other’s to accept me for who and what I am, if I can’t accept myself, faults, failures and flaws!

Following on from yesterday’s blog post Perfectionists, I just had to share this quote from Joyce Meyer:

Don’t be angry with yourself if you are imperfect while you are improving

A reminder maybe for all us perfectionists, that as long as we recognise that we are perfectionists, we can learn to accept imperfections in others and in ourselves…or at least some of them! 🙂
