I recently received a brochure through the post. It was a brightly coloured glossy brochure. It looked good and the thick quality paper made me want to look inside. So I did…

Well what I found inside was not what I expected

  • The first couple of pages were fine.
  • After page 2 was pages 19 to 34 inclusive.
  • Then another set of pages 19 up to 50 this time – pages 19 to 34 are the same as the previous pages 19 to 34.
  • Another set of pages 35 to 50 then followed again.
  • Finishing with pages 67 and 68.

The magazine looked great, it looked the part on the outside, but when you looked inside, it was a mess. So it wasn’t such a great looking brochure after all. i.e. What I saw from the outside of the brochure did not represent how the brochure was inside.

That’s so like many who say they are Christians, and attend church, isn’t it? On the outside they appear to be saying and doing all the things you’d expect of a Christian, but when they are outside of church, or you get to know them better, you can realise quite quickly they are not the true Christian you thought they were.

I pray that my outer self may reflect the inner me, and show that Jesus it at the centre of all I do.

Begin again

Each day is a new day with new challenges, so why do we often think we can face each day on our own without God? Each day is a new day with God so let Him into each day and let Him be at the centre of each of your days.

Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done ~ C.S. Lewis

Heaven’s Grocery Store

I was walking down life’s highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read “Heaven’s Grocery Store”.
As I got a little closer, the door came open wide.
When I came to myself, I was standing just inside.
I saw a host of angels.  They were standing everywhere.
One handed me a basket and said, “My child, please shop with care”.
Everything a Christian needed was in that Grocery Store.
All you couldn’t carry, you could come back the next day for.
First, I got some PATIENCE; LOVE was in the very same row.
Further down was UNDERSTANDING, you needed it wherever you go.
I got a box or two of WISDOM, a bag or two of FAITH.
I just couldn’t miss the HOLY SPIRIT, for He was all over the place!!
I stopped to get some STRENGTH and COURAGE to help me run this race.
By then my basket was getting full but…I remembered I needed some GRACE!
I didn’t forget SALVATION, for SALVATION was free.
So I tried to get enough of that to save both you and me.
Then I started up to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
for I thought I had everything to do my Master’s will.
As I wind up the aisle I saw PRAYER and I just had to put that in.
For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
PEACE and JOY were plentiful; they were on the last shelf.
SONGS and PRAISES were hanging near, so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the angel, “How much do I owe?”
He just smiled and said, “Just take them everywhere you go.”
Again I smiled at him and said, “How much do I owe?”
He smiled again and said……
“My child, JESUS PAID YOUR BILL A LONG TIME AGO!”
