Are you a book lover – either real books or kindle?

Reading is something that can amongst other things, educate us, entertain us and inspire us. So those who can’t read or are not interested in reading books will surely be missing out on something special and inspirational.

Maybe that’s why I love this quote from Mark Twain:

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them

Are you looking for simple ways to encourage your heart and nourish your soul?

In the last while I’ve given you some ideas which will hopefully inspire you to implement them in your own life, and over the coming weeks I’ll share some others with you.

So here’s today’s suggestion:

Take time to let people know you appreciate what they do for you

We all get caught up in life at times, and can sometimes be guilty of taking our friends and family for granted. So today brighten your day by recognising all the things, big and small that others do for you, and tell those people how grateful you are. In thanking others for what they do for you, not only will your day be brightened, but hopefully their day too!

Cheer someone up

I read the following by Mark Twain the other day and it amused me:

Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.

It just amused me as I can think of one or two people I know who, whenever they get a pain or feel a bit off colour, they try to diagnose what’s wrong with them. Unsurprisingly, their diagnosis is just about always wrong, as none of them are medically qualified in any way…unless googling their symptoms counts as a medical degree these days!

bibleAnyway, my main reason for mentioning this quote from Mark Twain, is that it reminds me that we are all quick to believe what we read in newspapers and books, but are we as quick to believe what we read in the bible?

It’s funny how we’re quick to believe the words we read in newspapers which are written to make profit for their owners.

It’s funny how we’re quick to believe what we read on internet sites which have no authorisation or qualifications to say what they do.

It’s funny how few of us read our bibles regularly and believe God’s promises contained in it.

Let’s make sure we believe all God’s promises to us, and live our lives as He directs us to.

Do you think kindness is something that everyone can appreciate? I do!

No matter how young or old, deaf or blind, black or white, Christian or Muslim, or in fact any person, I would suggest that we all enjoy someone showing us a little kindness. I found the following quote from Mark Twain, and this backs up what I’ve been saying:

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see

So, as I said earlier this week, it doesn’t hurt to be kind to others, so let’s spread some kindness wherever we go. A little bit of kindness goes a long way, and can be fully appreciated by everyone.
