As I said in yesterday’s blog post, Why?, I talked about how we all have times when we question God. We question Him when we feel we face problem and problem, or when we feel we can’t face any further difficulties in our life.

I know if you wanted to you could wave your hand
Spare me this heartache and change your plan
And I know when he said that you could take my pain away
But even if you don’t I pray

But even when we’re struggling with difficult times in our life, I found putting them to one side, even just for a few minutes at a time, and offering help and support to others who are also struggling.

So when you feel you want relief from your troubles remember it does help you when you help others.

Help me want the healer more than the healing
Help me want the savior more than the saving
Help me want the giver more than the giving
Oh help me want you Jesus more than anything

I believe!

If there had been no Christmas, there would have been no Easter, no cross, no resurrection and ultimately no forgiveness for us.

How can we not believe!

I believe in a cross, I believe He came for one, he came for all
Heavens child became a plan, gave his life for me
In spite of all I am, I believe, I believe, oh I believe

Christmas lives in me
I believe

And if you don’t believe have a listen (and a watch) to this video which tells the full Christmas story, and reminds us that Christmas is more than a fable, more than a story.

Every year at this time of year we hear the word “belief” mentioned a lot, but sadly it’s more often than not in relation to Santa, than about Christ. I find it very sad that so many in this world have never known the true love of Christ for themselves. If ever I need a remind of what God needs and wants me to do in my life, to tell other about Him and His love for us, this is the reminder I need.

In the last few weeks when I’ve been out at various Christmas events with Bellshill Salvation Army Band, I’ve been challenged each time one of our band, Daniel McMillan, has song the beautiful song, I Believe. It challenges us to ask ourselves, “What do you believe?“. I’m glad to say, I believe in Christmas, and more than that, I believe in Christ, the Saviour of the world.

What do you believe?

How good does it feel when you’re having a bad time when someone gives you a big hug? It’s wonderful isn’t it? It’s almost as if that hug makes whatever your going through that little bit easier to get cope with.

Even when you feel as if you’re on your own and no one is there to hold you, don’t forget God is still with you and is holding you close to Him at all times.

The song Held by Natalie Grant is one which is so very sad in many ways, but also one that reminds us how wonderful it is to know that when we are suffering, God is still there, holding us close to Him at all times.

Held by Natalie Grant
Two months is too little
They let him go
They had no sudden healing
To think that providence
Would take a child from his mother
While she prays, is appalling
Who told us we’d be rescued
What has changed and
Why should we be saved from nightmares
We’re asking why this happens to us
Who have died to live, it’s unfair

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We’d be held

This hand is bitterness
We want to taste it and
Let the hatred numb our sorrows
The wise hand opens slowly
To lilies of the valley and tomorrow

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We’d be held

If hope is born of suffering
If this is only the beginning
Can we not wait, for one hour
Watching for our savior

This is what it means to be held
How it feels, when the sacred is torn from your life
And you survive
This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We’d be held
We’d be held

This is what it is to be loved and to know
That the promise was when everything fell
We’d be held

This is what it means to be held…..
