Yesterday, I urged you to make a new start with God at this start of this new year (A New Year and a New Start), but I know for some of you that may be difficult because of things that have happened in your past where maybe you’ve questioned God’s reason for letting something to happen, or maybe the complete opposite, maybe you feel God let you down by not being there for you when you needed him most, or maybe you were let down by people who said they were Christians but in fact acted in a completely un-Christlike manner towards you.

hands reaching to each otherWhatever your past history with God, God is still waiting for you to turn to Him and is reaching out to you to take His hand. Even if you thought God deserted you in the past, I can assure you that He did not because God always answers our prayers, maybe not today or tomorrow, or even in the way we wanted Him to, or expected Him to, but He will answer our prayers, and He is always by our side.

I have felt in the past that God has deserted me, and so I turned away from Him, but after struggling about on my own for a while, God answered the prayers I had voiced over a year in the past, not in the way I expected, but He did answer them. I can therefore assure you that even if you think God has forgotten you, He hasn’t, just wait for Him, just as He is now waiting for you.

Forget your past and make God your present and your future, His waiting for you today.

Welcome to 2012! I hope it’s a guid’un for you and yours.

Personally I’m quite pleased to see the back of 2011, as it wasn’t the best year for me or my family.

So what about 2012, what am I hoping to achieve this year?

I say “what am I hoping to achieve this year” rather than what are my resolutions” because personally I think whenever we use the phrase “new year’s resolutions“, they are doomed to failure before we’ve even finished making them up!

As 2011 wasn’t the best year for me, some of my aims for this new year will hopefully help me to make this year a better one for me and my family. So here’s my list of aims for 2012, in no particular order:

  • Eat healthier
  • Lose some weight
  • Spend more time reading my bible
  • Don’t let pain rule my life
  • Get back to playing tennis as stopped playing in 2003 when I first wasn’t well
  • Put aside a minimum of 5 minutes each day to spend some quiet-time with God
  • Get back to playing the piano regularly as it’s been a while
  • Go on holiday – we’ve not been away anywhere since 2002
  • Keep on top of the housework (especially the ironing mountain!)
  • More patience and understanding of others
  • Stop procrastinating

Come the end od 2012, I wonder how many of these aims I’ll be able to say, “yes I’ve achieved this”, only the next 364 days will tell!

Whatever your aims for 2012, or your new year’s resolutions, I pray your year may be one in which you experience God’s love for you and your friends and family, whatever 2012 may hold for you.

Have a great 2012! God bless.

Yesterday I looked back over the 2010, and considered what my year in headlines would be for last year. Now today I want to look ahead to 2011. i.e. This year…

What are you looking forward to in 2011? Do you have any particular hopes and dreams for the coming year?

For me, my biggest hopes for the coming year are that all my family (including me), can have a healthy and hospital free year…but given this last year I think I may be pushing it to want a year free from unplanned hospital visits – I can but hope!

On top of that, I hope that God will continue to help me to grow in His love and peace, and that I may in some small way be able to share His love with those I come into contact with.

Can I just take this opportunity to thank you all for reading my blog and especially for the love, support and prayers that many of you have offered in the last year.

I pray that whatever your hopes and dreams for 2011, they may in some way be realised in this new year.

May 2011 be one full of many blessings for you and your family and friends.
