Not ready #2

Yesterday in my blog, I spoke about whether you like to be ready in plenty of time for all events/meeting you attend.

Here’s today’s question? Are you ready for God?

God is always ready to accept our invitation into our life, so we simply need to accept God as our saviour  and invite him into our heart. The only preparation we need to make is to give up all the things in our life which go against what God wants us to be. i.e. we need to seek his forgiveness, we need to want to be more like Him.

If you’ve not already accepted God into you’re life, get ready to say “yes” to God today.

At work we have managers or team leaders who are there to guide, direct and teach us.

How about in your life as a whole? Do you know who is leading you?

God is my Lord, and my leader. I hope He is your leader too.

On Saturday in Every Day I told you how we’d been asked to pray each morning at 9am for guidance from God for ourselves and our corps in Bellshill. Today’s blog post is really a follow-up on this, because, as the title suggests, it about finding answers to all our questions.

We all have questions about life, why some things happens, why others don’t happen. But God knows where He needs us, and what He wants us to do, so seek Him, and let Him give you guidance.

Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You

In this last week, what have you been doing at 9am each morning?

Well like (hopefully) many others from Bellshill Salvation Army, I have spent a few minutes in prayer at 9am each morning, asking God to give both myself and my corps family, guidance in the coming days.

The last few weeks in our church, we’ve really experienced God’s presence in our meetings. God is alive and working in our lives of everyone who is part of our worship. During last Sunday’s meeting were asked to pray at 9am each morning for God’s guidance, as God told us in Exodus 6:1 “Now go and see what I will do”.

Please pray for Bellshill Salvation Army in these coming days, as we’ve been deeply challenged by God in these last weeks, and are ready to respond to God’s guidance.

How many time have you put your trust or faith in someone and been let down or hurt by them?

I guess we’ve all done that at some point in our lives, and some of us will have done that more than one because we didn’t learn from our mistake the first time.

only from god

God is the only person who can meet our every need, so don’t let others hurt you any more, put your faith and trust in God.

We don’t need to be a blood relative of someone to consider them a member of our family. That just backs up our relationship with God, as we are all children of God, and as such we are part of God’s family.

Let’s make sure we treat one another as we would our blood relations, because we are all God’s children.

Children of God by Third Day

Praise to the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ
Our God and our King, to Him we will sing
In His great mercy, He has given us life
Now we can be called the children of God

Great is the Love that the Father has given us
He has delivered us
He has delivered us

Children of God, sing your song and rejoice
For the love that He has given us all
Children of God, by the blood of His Son
We have been redeemed and we can be called
Children of God
Children of God

A mystery is revealed to the universe
The Father above has proven His love
Now we are free from the judgment that we deserve
And so we are called the children of God

We are the saints
We are the children
We’ve been redeemed
We’ve been forgiven
We are the sons and daughters of our God

I’m sure we’ve all heard it said that “life is a journey”, but what does that mean for those of us who are Christians?

Yes, life may be tough at times, but I for one am reassured that God is always looking out for me. I hope and pray you are reassured by that too!

Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue (Proverbs 17:28)

Sometimes it really is better not to say anything isn’t it?

There are times when it can be difficult not to pass comment, or try to show your knowledge (limited as it may be) of something. However just as Proverbs says, it can be in those moments that we can really show the best in ourselves.

So think about what you say and when you say it, because your words can show how much of a fool your are or how wise you are!

We all get distracted sometimes, and can forget to go back to what we were doing when we got distracted. Make sure you spend quality time with God though, so don’t get distracted from Him, because at the end of the day His words are all that will remain.

Your words give us life that’s never ending

Your words bring us love that never fails

Everything else will fade away

But what will remain

Are Your words

Your Words by Third Day

Morning has broken

Morning has broken
Like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken
Like the first bird
Praise for the singing
Praise for the morning
Praise for them springing
Fresh from the world

Sweet the rain’s new fall
Sunlit from Heaven
Like the first dewfall
On the first grass
Praise for the sweetness
Of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness
Where His feet pass

Morning has broken
Like the first dawn
Sing Hallelujah
A new day is born

Mine is the sunlight
Mine is the morning
Born of the one light
Eden saw play
Praise with elation
Praise every morning
God’s recreation
Of the new day

Morning has broken
Like the first dawn
Sing Hallelujah
A new day is born
Morning has broken
Morning has broken

Words of an old hymn which I’m sure many of us are very familiar with, but is it a hymn that’s still relevant today?

Of course it is, the words in themselves are a reminder once again that each new day is a gift from God, and as such we must praise and thank God for each new day.

Just as the words are still relevant today, the song itself is just as listenable now as it ever was – I personally like this arrangement of it by Third Day:
