During my life I have not always felt as though I am particularly near to God, not because God has not been near me, but because I have not been near to God. That sounds a bit odd I know, but what I mean by this is, simply that God had by no means forgotten or deserted me, it was in fact me who had forgotten and deserted God. In other words, God was always there for me, I just needed to ask Him for help, but I just kept trying to go it alone, when I should have known better…I should have remembered that without God leading me I would never get through the tough times.
Have you had times like these? If so I’d urge you to turn to God, because He will always be there for you. Do not forget God – It’s during the tough times that God will be more than just enough for you. So trust Him at all times.
Dr Jill Bolt Taylor mentioned something of interest in relation to the divine. She said our knowledge and experience get in the way. In fact she said having her stroke was like removing 30 years of emotional baggage. She was left with pure joy and bliss. That would suggest that God or whatever you opt to call the divine is always near you. It is just your own thinking that gets in the way. What stories are you telling? Stories that keeps the divine out of your life? In the end all that matters is that the stories we tell ourselves either serves us or not. That pure joy is available to children and as Christ said unless we are willing to be like little children … well you know the rest of that story. I say find a way to follow your bliss. That is the true path to be nearing to God.
