As I mentioned yesterday, Christmastime can be a particularly difficult time for many. One of the examples I gave yesterday was, the homeless, but wait, it’s not just Christmastime that id tough for them, it’s every day. After all here are just a few things they have to face on a daily basis:
- Finding a safe place to sleep
- Staying warm and dry
- Getting food and water
- Staying out of trouble
- Trying to find work to earn some money
I certainly do not claim to be any kind of expert in the needs of the homeless, however I feel I need to bring the needs of the homeless to your attention at this time – We have been enduring some extreme winter weather conditions in the last few weeks.
Weather conditions in which many people who are not homeless, found themselves unable to get home so had to sleep in their office, at a friend or family member’s house or even in their car. That was bad enough for many, as many were cold and hungry during these times, but just think, that’s just a fraction of what the homeless experience every day.
Those of us with a roof over our head, heating, clothes and food, are so very fortunate – I know given the current economic problems, we often think we’re having a tough time, but let’s be honest, we’re living in luxury in comparison to the homeless.
I’d urge you to do what you can this Christmas particularly, to help those who find themselves homeless at this time of year – They need the love and support of those of us who are more fortunate.
Christmas is a time when we should spread cheer and goodwill to all, so please pray for the homeless this Christmas and please do/give ll you can to help the homeless this Christmas.
