The Inner Darkness

So what do you think I’m referring to when I talk about “The Inner Darkness”?

Well, from personal experience, I can say that one feeling/emotion that I’ve found which can be truly destructive to person with the feeling/emotion, is jealousy.

Jealousy is sometime referred to as a “green-eyed monster” and I can truly understand why!

So what exactly is jealousy:

  • envy
  • resentment
  • covetousness
  • possessiveness
  • spite
  • malice
  • obsessive

As you can see from the defineition of jealously, it is not a nice way to feel about someone else, or indeed to be the object of someone else’s jealousy.

As a Christian, I know jealousy is a feeling/emotion which God does not want me to have for someone else, so why do I still find myself feeling jealous of others?

Probably because I’m human!

It can be very hard being human sometimes. We can do our utmost to be the person God wants us to be, however when we care or love someone, we can find all sense of perspective and forget how we belive God wants us to be. We hurt God when we are jealous of others, so we find ourselves becoming obsessive about someone we care about to the extent that we find ourselves becoming upset/jealous when we see them with others…it’s time to stop, pray to God for forgiveness and ask Him to help us keep our friendship/relationship on an acceptable level.

The longer we let jealousy simmer within us, the more it will eat away at us – The more our jealousy eats away at us, the harder it will be for the relationship in question to grow and flourish.

If you are jealous of anyone, take your jealousy to God and leave it in His hands, so you can allow your relationship to grow once more.
