As I said in Sunday’s blog post My Best, I do try every day to live my life as God wants me to. However, as I also said in that blog post, I often fail miserably at being a true Christian despite trying my best. It’s because I fail so much that I constantly feel so unworthy of God’s love.
God presents me with opportunities to do selfless acts, but I often pretend I don’t see the opportunity and turn away from Him, and do my own thing. I know that is so wrong and that my reasons for doing so are so inadequate,. After all God would not ask me to do anything He didn’t know I could cope with, with His help.
I need to keep reminding myself every day we are all worthy of God’s love…that I am worthy of His love.
Today Lord I pray that you will help each of us to realise we are worthy of your love even although we often fail you. God, help us to to do your will, no matter how much I feel I am unable to do so in my own strength. Help us Lord to be true Christians, focusing on others needs rather than our own.
The words of the hymn Just As I Am are one’s very precious to me. Here’s some of the words, please follow while listening to Enfield Citadel Band of The Salvation Army playing an arrangement of the hymn, Just As I Am:
Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
