Due to various events and conversations in the last couple of days, I’ve been vividly reminds that although at times in these last few years I’ve felt like my troubles are never-ending and overwhelming, compared to so many others, I am having a very wonderful and trouble-free life!
Sometimes I think we (I mean me!) get so caught up in our own circumstances and problems, that we forget about all the blessings we have in our lives, and how well off we are compared with so many others.
Just a couple of days ago we were shocked to hear of the passing of one of my hubby’s cousins who was only 50 years old. She’d been battling against cancer, but following completion of a course of chemotherapy had seemed to be doing ok. I’ve lost count now of the number of people in my hubby’s family who have died prematurely from cancer (this includes his Dad and his younger sister), so when I even consider this I realise how fortunate I am to still have all my immediate family here with me, albeit many with their own health issues.
So today, although I type this with a heavy heart as my mind is constantly thinking of our cousin’s family as they mourn the death of a wife and mother, I thank God for all the wonderful blessings He gives me each day. I pray that I will never take God’s love for me for granted and that I may take a few minutes every day just to thank Him for all the wonderful things He does for me and those I love.
Let’s not get caught up in our own lives. Let’s thank God for the love He shows us each day. Let’s remember all those who are facing difficulties in their lives and remember that there’s always someone worse off than ourselves.
