…a question I’m sure we’ve often considered when we’re thinking about someone.
A question which may change your life for the better, or the worse, depending on whether you get the answer right or wrong!
Ernest Hemingway once said,
The best way to find out if you can trust somebody is to trust them
I have to agree with those sentiments, because if you tell someone your deepest secrets and you do not hear of anyone else knowing of your discussions, you know you can trust the person you confided in. Why is that? Because if you can’t trust the person you confided in, I can almost guarantee that if they have told someone else of your secrets you’ll soon hear about it.
If/when you find someone you can truly trust, look after that friendship because it’s one in a million.
Insightful thinking. Yes, discerning whether you can trust someone is akin to our growing trust in the Lord. We test people to determine their trustworthiness and it is always a joy to find someone who has integrity and cares without sharing it with others. Someone who respects you and can be relied upon is so valuable. When I first asked the Lord into my life, I had a barrier to trusting Him. This was because of previous hurtful experiences with other people. He understood this and He worked so hard to demonstrate His trustworthiness, He worked so hard! Looking back on the early days of my relationship with Him, He has never changed and never will. I have. It is all thanks to Him.
