Why did he have to die?

Over the years, I’ve had a few people ask me why God allowed his son to be crucified, when, if he truly is Lord of all, he could have saved him?

I can completely understand why for those who do not believe in God, and in Christ’s resurrection, Christ’s death can seem confusing, but there is a reason for Christ’s death that first Easter…

It all started with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden when they disobeyed God, and as a consequence every single one of us have become sinners. The consequence of this was that Jesus willingly suffered and died at Calvary just so that we could be atoned for these sins.

I find it overwhelming just how much Jesus and God must love us, to give so much, so willingly. I could never I not show my thanks to God for his sacrifice, by loving Him and serving Him? God loves us, and because of that Jesus died, and because of that I have promised to love Him all my days, have you?

Here’s Garry Druery singing What He Was Dying To Say, which reminds us just how much God loves and cares for us. I pray it will help you remember why Christ had to die for us.
