The came across the following story in my wanderings around the internet the other day, and it really struck a chord with me:
Father George was opening his Christmas cards one December morning. Out of one the cards came a single sheet of paper on it was written only one word: ‘Fool’. The following Sunday, in church, Father George announced to the assembled congregation, ‘I have known many people who have written notes to me and forgotten to sign their names.
But this week I received a note from someone who signed his name and had forgotten to write a letter.’
Just as the person who sent the 2nd note to the Father, forgotten to include the note, so we often forget to include our fears, burdens and sins when we talk to God. Just as the Father knew what the writer of the note was, so God knows exactly who we are, even if we don’t communicate with Him.
God knows what kind of person we are, He knows our thoughts and our intentions, because He knows what’s in our heart.
