From the chaos

Do you ever feel as if you life is chaotic, as you spend what seems like all your ‘free’ time rushing from one place/activity to another, simply stopping occasionally to eat and sleep.

Even in this chaos, God can change us so we can be what he wants us to be. He can help us help others and show them what God can do for them.

We’re reminded of this in Psalm 51:7-15 where we firstly read about  what we would like God to do for us. It then goes on to remind us what the outcome will be when we let God give us what we need to do His work:

Soak me in your laundry and I’ll come out clean, scrub me and I’ll have a snow-white life.
Tune me in to foot-tapping songs, set these once-broken bones to dancing.
Don’t look too close for blemishes, give me a clean bill of health.
God, make a fresh start in me, shape a Genesis week from the chaos of my life.
Don’t throw me out with the trash, or fail to breathe holiness in me.
Bring me back from gray exile, put a fresh wind in my sails!
Give me a job teaching rebels your ways so the lost can find their way home.
Commute my death sentence, God, my salvation God, and I’ll sing anthems to your life-giving ways.
Unbutton my lips, dear God; I’ll let loose with your praise.

It’s all quite descriptive language isn’t it, but because of that it really is clear what we can achieve for God when we give Him our all.

Let’s not be silent about our faith and our relationship with God, instead let God give us the words and the desire to tell others about God’s love for them.
