If you’ve ever felt as if your life feels hopeless and you feel all alone, you’ll understand just how low life can feel at times. I’ve been there, and I felt so isolated, so alone – It felt like everyone else’s lives were going so well, and that I wasn’t part of anyone’s plans, no-one seemed to care how I felt.
It felt as if even God had deserted me as I couldn’t pray, and found God wasn’t fixing everything the way I wanted. The reality was, it was me who deserted God because I stopped praying, I stopped believing God was there or even cared about me. How wrong was I!
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
Even although I knew this verse in the bible, and I believed in God, I doubted God at a time when I needed Him most. The good news is, even when we desert God, He never deserts us!
And I’ve been down the other road
Where fear and doubt
They take control
And I won’t go there anymore
I got through that time of feeling hopeless, and I believe I got through it because God was with me. Yes, I suffered, yes I was scared, but God was with me. Somewhere deep inside me my faith kept me going even when I didn’t realise it. Without my faith, without God who knows how my life would have turned out when I hit rock bottom.
Without God there is no hope, but with Him we have the promise of eternal life!
