Last resort?

I’m sure we’ve all heard or read the message in 1 Corinthians 10:13 many times.

We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously.

1 Corinthians 10:13 – The Passion Translation

There is a reason why we hear it so often – When in times of trouble is God the first person you turn to for help? Or is he your last resort? We can often think we know best when we’re in trouble, and can manage on our own, but how many times have you got to a pint when you’re realised you can’t make it on your on, and sought help?

God has promised always to be with us, and as the above quote says, He’ll never give us more than He know we can cope with. However to cope with it we must trust Him, to show us the route through those times of trouble.

I’ve proved in my own life that going it on my own in difficult times gets me nowhere, but trusting God and letting Him guide me, gets me through those times, and in fact strengthens my faith in Him.

So don’t let God be your last resort when you’re drowning, make Him the first person you turn to for help, because He will be there for you.
