All change!

As measures intensify to try and curb the spread of Coronavirus, many of us now find that our normal daily lives will be changing considerably for at least the foreseeable future.

I have been working from home normally two or three days a week for about a year and a half now, so I am used to having conversations with colleagues using various technologies as well as standard mobile and email communications.

But even for me this has now changed significantly as, while working from home yesterday I was told that, because of existing health conditions, I had not to go into any of our offices for at least the next 12 weeks, or further guidance was issued. So I’m now a permanent home-worker for the foreseeable future. Exactly how that’s going to work out is unclear because if everyone is told to work from home, it may not be possible for all staff to connect remotely at the same time.

At present though it’s only those of us with underlying health conditions which put us at risk, that have been told not to go into the office for the next 12 weeks, however advice is changing daily so who know what the situation will be by the end of this week.

There is one thing that’s clear though, those who have children in pre-school nurse or school, will no doubt be told to work from home from the end of this week, as today it was announced that all schools in Scotland will be closed until further notice, by the end of Friday this week.

All social clubs, gyms, and religious gatherings have now all been cancelled until further notice as well.

We are definitely living in challenging times, and it looks like they are staying for the foreseeable future.

Stay well and stay safe everyone.
