Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
Those of you who know me, will know, and I’m sure agree, that I’m not the most patient person in the world. However realising that patience is not something I find easy, was for me a big moment. It was that moment when I realised that I was never going to be a patient person unless I prayed that God would help me find patience in those moments when I find my patience waining.
Yes, I’ve prayed a lot over the years for patience and I know I’m still not a patient person, but I know I’m still a work in progress as far as God is concerned. God has been so very patient with me, and my wanderings and failings in life. So just as the image above reminds us how patient God has been with us, I acknowledge that and continue to pray that God will help me to be more patient.
