Have you heard the expression, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”? That doesn’t just apply to people, but also objects, art, nature etc as well. In my last couple of blog posts I’ve tried to remind us of that by thinking about the how we shine God’s light through our words and actions and how sometimes we need to take away all distractions so we can once again see the beauty of nature that God has created all around us.
There are many who judge the beauty of others simply by the their outward appearance. While that is one form of beauty we can see in others, God has always reminded us that a person’s beauty is so much more than just their outward appearance.
But God told Samuel, “Looks aren’t everything. Don’t be impressed with his looks and stature. I’ve already eliminated him. God judges persons differently than humans do. Men and women look at the face; God looks into the heart.”1 Samuel 16:7 (The Message)
I for one am so thankful that God looks in our heart to see our beauty, and so I simply pray that my heart will be full of God’s love, and will radiate from me to others. I also pray that when the devil attempts distract me from God, my faith and trust in God will remain strong, and my heart will continue to be filled with God’s love.
