Seasons of change

If you live in the UK, did you remember to put your clock back an hour last night? Personally I love the night the clocks go back an hour, as it means I get an extra hour in bed!

I also like the colour of autumn, as we see the colour of the leaves on the trees, and natural colours in our gardens changing to those deep reds and yellows.

What I don’t like though are the leaves on the ground, making the pavements slippy underfoot. I also don’t like what putting the clocks back means…it’s going to be dark outside before it’s even dinner time for the next few months!

I can see the promise; I can see the future. You’re the God of seasons, and I am just in the winter. If all I know of harvest is that it’s worth my patience. Then if you are not done working, God I am not done waiting.

Hillsong Worship

I read a story on the internet last week which referenced the words from the Hillsong song ‘Seasons’. I want to share these with you, as I felt they were very helpful.

There was a time early last year when I was ready to give up. I had reached a significant setback, and I told God that I couldn’t take it anymore. I don’t know what led me to listen to seasons by Hillsong, but the song just spoke to me. Seasons is about waiting on God. God is patient and does things in seasons, and we will all have to go through winter. Though long the winter may seem, it will end one day, and spring will come with the promise of a harvest. The song encourages me not to give up and wait on the Lord.

So just as the seasons of the year may be changing, remember your life is like the seasons – we may have some tough months where everything seems dark and there’s no clear way ahead, but God has your life seasons in control, and he will help you through though the dark winter season, so you are ready and prepared when spring time begins. Be strong, because God is in control of all the seasons of nature and life.

Like the frost on a rose
Winter comes for us all
Oh how nature acquaints us
With the nature of patience
Like a seed in the snow
I’ve been buried to grow
For Your promise is loyal
From seed to sequoia

PRE-CHORUS:
I know

CHORUS:
Though the winter is long even richer
The harvest it brings
Though my waiting prolongs even greater
Your promise for me like a seed
I believe that my season will come

VERSE 2:
Lord I think of Your love
Like the low winter sun
As I gaze I am blinded
In the light of Your brightness
Like a fire to the snow
I’m renewed in Your warmth
Melt the ice of this wild soul
Till the barren is beautiful

BRIDGE:
I can see the promise
I can see the future
You’re the God of seasons
I'm just in the winter
If all I know of harvest
Is that it’s worth my patience
Then if You’re not done working
God I’m not done waiting
You can see my promise
Even in the winter
Cause You’re the God of greatness
Even in a manger
For all I know of seasons
Is that You take Your time
You could have saved us in a second
Instead You sent a child

TAG:
And when I finally see my tree
Still I believe there’s a season to come

VERSE 3:
Like a seed You were sown
For the sake of us all
From Bethlehem's soil
Grew Calvary's sequoia
