I received an email yesterday from an international takeaway restaurant yesterday which slightly annoyed me. I’m not going to name the company, just explain why their email annoyed me.
So the company have my email address as I’ve ordered a takeaway from them to be delivered to our house a couple of times – Note: so they know our address.
The email started off by apologising for being ‘another COVID email’ and then said it would get straight to the point. what I read next was the bit that slightly annoyed me. It stated
As you know, on Saturday, the Prime Minister announced that the UK will go into a month-long lockdown from 5th November until 2nd December to try and help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Email communication from a takeaway restaurant to me
Can you understand now why I was a bit annoyed by their email?
Firstly, the UK Prime Minister did not announce that the UK would go into lockdown from 5 November. He said England would!
Secondly, if they meant England would go into lockdown from 5 November, do they think Scotland is part of England?!
I found it shocking that an international company would not ensure it had its facts right before sending out an email communication to potentially thousands (?) of their customers.
On the positive side of the email, the good news is they were informing me that they are still open for takeaway collections and deliveries, so I guess that was the one positive I took from their email.
