Footprints

While listening to some random music yesterday, a song I used to listen to a lot came on, ‘Footprints in the Sand’ by Leona Lewis – It’s a song I used to listen to a lot, but it became very special to me during a very difficult period in my life when I felt very alone, and a number of things in my life seemed to be spiralling out of my control.

I was at my lowest, felt alone, I had no words to pray anymore, and it seemed pointless anyway as if felt as if God had deserted me. But just when I had exhausted my strength to get through another day, someone who I had hardly spoken to, out of the blue, reached out to me to support and comfort me. Later later that day they texted these words to me

Footprints in the sand
Whenever you need someone
Turn around
I'll always be there for you

That was such an emotional day for me – I was on my knees, I felt alone and abandoned by God, life felt hopeless. But I believe that that day when I was at my lowest, God directed that person (now a good friend) to reach out to me and offer their support and care for me.

Looking back on that day, I am always reminded of these words.

Maybe even on that day when my friend reached out to me, I was thinking of these words, as not long after that day Leona Lewis release the song ‘Footprints in the Sand’ and it reminded me that God had always been walking with me even when I couldn’t see His footprints.

No matter what we may face in life, I urge you never to think God has abandoned you because He hasn’t! Remember that God has promised to always be with us – He hears our every prayer, even those we can’t utter, and will answer all of them, in His time.
