God’s apprentice

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

There are apprenticeships available for many different professions these days. All of which should allow the apprentice to learn a trade from a skilled employer, for a fixed period of time, while still earning a wage.

An apprentice is still expected to adhere to the policies and guidelines of their employer, as well as show improvement during their time as an apprentice. If they don’t, they may find their apprenticeship terminated, just as any full or part-time employee would if they failed to follow their employers policies and guidelines.

Even when we a full or part-time job there may be times when we find ourselves in trouble, in danger of losing our job because we’ve made a mistake, or have failed to follow our employer’s policies and guidelines.

In our Christian lives, although we may strive to be more like Jesus on a daily basis, we all fail God sometimes. The good news is, God forgives us and continues to loves us, because he knows we are still learning. In fact He considers us to be His apprentice for life, because He expects us to learn from all our experiences.
