Rest in God’s presence

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

It’s that time of year when many will either have been on holiday, be on holiday or are looking forward to holidays. For many ‘holidays’ this year, like last year, will be completely different from what we may have planned or hoped for. However any time away from our normal everyday jobs or routine, can be considered a holiday, regardless of where we spend it.

Time away from our daily jobs or routine is important for us all, as we all need to relax and rest, so we can feel refreshed and recharged, so we are ready to face our whatever lies ahead.

When we take time to relax and rest physically, we should also take time to rest in God’s presence – time that maybe we’ve struggled to have in recent times. Spending time to rest in God’s presence will help us focus on Him, and help us reinvigorate our faith and our love for Him.

So remember to rest not just from your daily activities/routine, but also remember to rest in God’s presence.

Are you tired
Worn out and empty
Is your soul weary

Have you tried
Releasing your burdens
Do you feel the weight
Of worry

I am the rest you need
I am the Prince of Peace
Enter the rest of God

Come to Me
Burdens will fly away
Walk with Me
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace

Come to Me
Burdens will fly away
Walk with Me
Learn the unforced rhythms
Live the unforced rhythms of grace
