With all my heart

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Mark 12:30 (NIV)

We are instructed to love God with all our heart, means we must love God with our emotions by praising Him when we’re happy, when things are going well. For example when God answers our prayers, or something great happens in our life. However when life isn’t going so well, God still wants us to love Him ‘with all our heart’. That means even when it may feel like God is ignoring us, or He simply says ‘No’ to our requests, or when bad things happen. These are the times that can severely challenge us, but loving God in these circumstances is key to a life of contentment. We don’t have to be happy when bad things happen. Instead we just have to focus on God, because He will comfort us, and will never leave, or forsake us.

Every day is a school day when it comes to loving God at all times, because we learn a little more each day how to love Him, so that it become a daily habit for us. When loving God becomes a daily habit, we can say, just as the Apostle Paul did, that ‘I am content no matter what’. The secret of living through every challenge in live, is remembering that we can do everything, we can overcome anything, all because God gives us strength, sustenance, and courage when we love Him with all our heart.

With all my heart I want to love You Lord
And live my life each day to know You more
All that is in me is Yours completely
I'll serve You only with all my heart
