Accepting God’s plan

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’)

Isaiah 7:14 (NLT)

When I’m asked to do something new or asked to do something out with my comfort zone, I get a mixture of emotions: nervousness, anxiety; and sometimes I even feel frightened.

I can’t fully comprehend all the emotions Mary must have felt when she was told by an angel that she would fall pregnant, and give birth to the Son of God. I’m sure she must have felt a whole range of emotions: she must have been terrified of what lay ahead; astounded at what she’d been asked to do; scared of what Joseph and the rest of her family and friends would think; but ultimately I’m sure she must have felt very humble that God chose her to give birth to His Son.

We often question God when He asks us to do something which is out with our comfort zone, but have you noticed that we don’t hear anything of Mary questioning what God has asked of her.

If Mary, a young unmarried woman can accept God’s plan for her without questioning or doubting she can do it, how can we ever doubt anything God asks us to do!

So if God has been asking you to do something which is out with your comfort zone, why not take that step this Christmas, just as Mary did, and accept God’s plan for your life.
