Bad experiences which hurt us, are emotional wounds – they can be hard to talk about initially, as they hurt us too much. However as time passed, the hurt usually begins to fade as that hurt/wound heals and becomes an emotional scar, and we can begin to talk about the hurt.
Just as a physical wound heals and the scar it leaves becomes the reminder of the injury, the emotional scar left by an emotional wound are the reminder of the hurt we experienced.
The journey from a wound to scar can difficult (both for physical and emotional wounds), but the rewards from it make it worth while (better physical and mental health). Scars don’t hurt us, but they do always remind us of the hurt that the wound originally gave us, we learn from our emotional wounds.
