Wait

While I was out for a walk yesterday, wearing just leggings and a t-shirt, and no jumper or jacket because it was quite warm, I was reminded of a saying I think my gran used to say

Ne’er cast a clout till May is oot

When I was young, I never real got what this phrase/saying was about. But as I’ve got older I’ve realised how true those words have proved to be on several occasions. Just as the last few days, we can have some warm sunny weather in March, when we want to go outside and enjoy the sunshine, without having to wear a jumper or jacket.

However it’s often the case that just around the corner, is much colder, wintery weather. This year seems no different, as while we have warm sunny weather this week, I noticed the forecast for next Wednesday and Thursday is “hail showers and a moderate breeze” and the temperature also looks like it’s meant to to drop by more than 10 degrees. No wonder we all become more susceptible to catching a cold at this time of year!

Maybe we should beware of discarding our outer clothing this early in the year, as we know we are likely to get more cold and wintery weather.
