Being involved in some recruitment at work recently has got me thinking about how we ‘recruit’ non-believers, to God. When trying to recruit someone to a job, you have to advertise the position, await for people to apply, review the applications, select those who meet the pre-agreed criteria for interview, interview, and then hopefully, offer the post to one of the applicants following interview.
Yes it’s not a straightforward process is it, but it is the way that recruitment to a position of employment is considered to be the fairest for all applicants, and for the employer.
Thankfully God doesn’t require us to go through a recruitment process to be become a Christian, a believer in God. Instead he simply asks us to ‘come to Him’.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
There’s no recruitment process to become a Christian. There’s no application form or CV that needs to be filled in to become a follower of Jesus. We simply just have to give Him our heart, our life, our all.
