Open door

Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.

As we start 2023, I’m sure some people will be hoping for a better year than 2022, while others may be hoping for as great a year as last year. Whatever this year has in store for each of us, we are assured that God will be with us throughout, to help and guide us.

Maybe in the past we’ve been hesitant to take that next step in our faith journey. Maybe God has presented us with new opportunities but we’ve declined to take them. The good news is God is still opening doors for us, and is still looking for us to say ‘yes’ to His requests of us. So why not make 2023 the year we take those next steps in our faith journey.

A few months ago I first heard a beautiful song, written by Chris Brinkley for the Amsterdam Staff Songsters, that I want to share with you today. It reminds us that God can and will open doors for us to share His message with others. I simply pray today that we may each take those next steps in our faith Journey this year.

I pray a door may open
that I might share the way
of grace and full salvation
none can take away.
That we are freely given
a gift of life divine.
by Christ alone who conquered death
and made His vict’ry mine.

I pray a door may open
that I may share the truth
of God’s own Son who came to earth
his love to prove.
His life and resurrection;
the Word revealed to us,
on which our faith stands firm upon,
on which our faith stands firm upon,
on which our faith stands firm upon,

The rock on which we trust.
As I proclaim,
as I proclaim,
as I proclaim,
as I proclaim,
the mystery of Christ

A door is open
that they may find the way
a door is open
that they may find the way, the truth, and life!

I pray a door may open
that brings eternal life
to all who hear His promise
and are saved from strife.
A joy found in His presence
and peace beyond compare
are free to all for evermore.
To share this is my prayer.
