They’re looking back at my posts the last few weeks about the working week that has just ended is, I seem to comment a lot on how long my week seems to be! It will therefore be no surprise then that once again today I’m going to comments on the number of days I worked this last week and how long it actually felt…This last week at work was actually my first 5 day working week since November last year…and it sure did feel like the longest working week I’ve had for a long time!
So 5 working days this last week has been a bit of a shock to the system after being off sick in December, then Christmas and New Year statutory holidays, and then in January using up the remainder of my 2022 annual leave so I didn’t lose it.
I may have worked more days in the last week, but the amount of work I need to get through just seems to keep increasing exponentially. This has meant that not only have the number days been more this week, but I also seem to have worked even more hours each day just to try and keep on top of my workload. (apart from one day where I had a couple of hours off to attend an appointment with my husband – though even that day, I worked more hours than my contracted hours!) That said, I haven’t kept on top of my workload, as by the end of yesterday several bits of work I’d planned/hoped to complete by end of the week, I haven’t even started, so I’m going to be playing catch-up right from the start of this coming week.
One thing I can be sure of, and hopefully my manager can be sure of, is that regardless of what happens during a working week, and what work I do or don’t get through, I have done my best, which ultimately is all that can be asked of any of us.
Now wit’s Saturday, it’s been time to try and destress, and chill, before Monday comes round again all too quickly, and I have to do another 5 day working week.
