Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
If I were to ask how many blessings you’ve received today, would you be able to give me an answer? My guess would be that many of us will not be able to give an accurate answer.
We can often take so many of the good things that take place in our daily lives for granted, and forget that they are in fact blessings from God. We instead tend to focus on the negatives in our life, meaning we minimise or forget about all the blessings we do receive.
Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!
Psalm 103:2-5 (NLT)
Why to make a list of your blessings from God each day, that way we will be able to remind ourselves of the many things we have to be to be thankful for. Count your blessings today, tomorrow and always, “and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done”.
When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed, When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost, Count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Chorus Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done. Count your blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done. Are you ever burdened with a load of care? Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear? Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly, And you will keep singing as the days go by. So amid the conflict, whether great or small, Do not be disheartened, God is over all; Count your many blessings, angels will attend, Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
I hope you enjoy and are blessed as you listen to this different arrangement of the melody we associate the above well-known words.
