Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Do you like to wait for things? Do you become impatient when someone else causes the delay?
There are so many parts of our lives these days where we may find ourselves having to wait for things to take place. For example a doctor’s appointment, a car repair, a delivery, our next pay day.
We can become frustrated and impatient waiting for these things, but that’s because we need these things to happen. Likewise when we’re waiting for God to answer our prayers, we can often become disillusioned when He doesn’t answer our prayers immediately. When that happens we give up on God and look for someone or something else to meet our need.
The bible tells us that those who wait on Him will find their wait worthwhile.
But those who hope in the Lord
Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
When we ask God for help, he starts working on the answer right away, however our doubt and fears can make us think God doesn’t care and doesn’t want to answer us, so we stop trusting and serving Him.
We must always wait on God to answer our calls for help or guidance, as He will always give us an answer at just the right time for us. So don’t give up on God, and instead always hold on to the unchanging hand of God, no matter how long you have to wait for Him to answer your calls for help.
When the best of me is barely breathing When I’m not somebody I believe in Hold on to me When I miss the light the night has stolen When I’m slamming all the doors You’ve opened Hold on to me, hold on to me Hold on to me when it’s too dark to see You Hold on to me when I have reached the end Hold on to me when I forget I need You When I let go, hold me again When I don’t feel like I’m worth defending When I’m tired of all the pretending Hold on to me When I start to break in desperation Underneath the weight of expectations Hold on to me, hold on to me I could rest here in Your arms forever 'Cause I know nobody could love me better So hold on to me, hold on to me
