My week in review – week #21 2023

Another busy week, but I seem to have coped better this week – Maybe it’s because the weather’s been a bit brighter and I’m now counting down the days until I’m on annual leave for two weeks! I’ve only have a couple of single days off this year so far, so I really need a break from everything for a little bit, so looking forward to have two weeks off.

This last week has definitely been a better week, but it’s still been a bit of a rollercoaster ride emotionally. I’m still exhausted but still keeping busy so my mind is fully occupied.

Even at work this week where I had a couple of workshops to review/determine how we want to use some of our toolsets going forward, ended up giving us more questions than answers, so it felt like we really didn’t make any progress with that! Next week we have two sessions with Microsoft where they’ll look a our environments and then provide feedback on how we resolve some of the issues we’ve been left with by our integration partners – So that should be really helpful and will hopefully help us get to the bottom of some the problems we’ve had to try and overcome.

On top of that I have a number of things that I do, that I need to document, so that while I’m off, the senior developers in my team can cover some of the work I do (i.e. the essential things). A lot of these processes are new, so we haven’t fully documented them, so just trying to find the time to document them this week, in between other meetings, or after everyone else finishes work, will probably be the only time I get the opportunity to do this.

Received a couple of messages earlier today telling e to have a ‘happy holiday weekend’ – What a lovely sentiment, however it’s not a holiday weekend for me, as we don’t get yesterday and Monday as statutory leave – we can of course request these days as annual leave, but that’s down to each individual person to do that and we still have to provide cover/support, so not everyone can take those days off, even if everyone wanted those days off.

Anyway I’m continuing my countdown to my two weeks off, so I’ll finish by saying, end of next Friday’s working day can’t come quick enough for me!
