Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
I recently attended an Andre Rieu concert with my husband. It was a great show and a very enjoyable evening of music.
During the show the audience were encouraged to singing-along and to get out their seat and dance in the aisles. This continued when members of a gospel choir joined Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra on stage, to perform several songs from the film ‘Sister Act’. Many of those sitting around us got audibly excited when Andre Rieu announced they were going to perform several songs from the film ‘Sister Act’, and many then proceeded to join in as they sang ‘I Will Follow Him’ and ‘O Happy Day’.
As these two songs were sung, it struck me as I looked around me, just how many of the audience were singing along. I wondered how many of them actually knew who they are singing about.
The venue wasn’t completely full, but there was probably still over l 10,000 people there for the show. I wonder how many of them believe in God, and have promised to ‘follow Him wherever He may go’?
I will follow him Follow him wherever he may go And near him, I always will be For nothing can keep me away He is my destiny Happy day, happy day, When Jesus washed my sins away!
What a challenge we have a Christians to tell the world about Jesus in a way that encourages them to want to follow him. I encourage all of us to to share God’s message of love, and challenge those we meet find for themselves what a wonderful day it is when Jesus washes all their sins away.
Here’s a video of ‘I Will Follow Him’ performed during an Andre Rieu’s concert a few years ago in Maastricht.
