My week in review – week #31 2023

Busy, busy week at work this week as it was one of those weeks where it was end of sprint/start of new sprint, plus we were interviewing 2 days in a row as well.

As we were interviewing 2 days in a row this week, and they were face-to-face interviews, I had to be in the office both days. That I think was the first time I’m been in the office 2 days in a row since pre-Covid, and I must be honest and say, I was absolutely shattered by the end of the second day. Mainly because I have to get up about 1.5 hours earlier on days I’m in the office, so doing that on 2 consecutive days was hard going – How on earth did I manage when I was in the office 5 days a week, pre-Covid?!

All in all it situation at the end of the last sprint was fairly positive with us making good progress on a number of solutions. There’s still work to be done on many of them, but we’re definitely seeing progress on them now. Meanwhile I’m starting to look at the next ‘big’ solution we have been tasked to build, as we’ll hopefully soon be in a position to start working on that project, though probably still a sprint or two away from that yet.

We’ve also started work on some critical technology stack upgrades that we have to do, so that will divert some of our resource from project work in this sprint, but we must do thee upgrades to keep our technology up-to-date.

The weather this week has been unpredictable with the weather forecast telling us it will be wet each day (bar Friday), meaning I didn’t attempt to put any washing out. However there were at least 2 of those days where it actually stayed day all day, so I could have got some washing out on the line! I made up of it on Friday as I was able to get 3 loads of washing done and out on the line during the day, as I was working from home. That meant for the first time in a while, I ended up with an empty washing basket! However it didn’t say like that for long!

Been a busy week for me as far as Bellshill Salvation Army Band is concerned too, not because the band had any engagement, but have had some work to investigate in relation to the band website going forward, which has taken a bit of time, but I think I’ve finally got enough info to present my proposals to the band locals for approval. I’ve also had some news to post on all our social media platforms, as well as starting to organise band practice devotions for the coming session which starts in a couple of weeks.

Update on the issue I told you about a few of weeks ago in two blog posts (Accept what we know and don’t know and Accept what we know and don’t know…Part 2!) – Still no response!
