It’s been a busy week again, all starting last Sunday, when we attended the evening session of the UCI Cycling Championships at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome. We only decided to go at the end of last week, when we found out a friend was here to attend some of the cycling events, and when we checked there were tickets available for one of the sessions he was attending, so decided to attend, so we could meet up with him.
It was exceptionally warm in the velodrome – we didn’t remember it being this hot the previous times we’d been there. It was a great evening, with lots of excellent cycling. There were a few crashes, including one fairly early on in the session which appeared to be very serious as there was a long delay, while the cyclist was attended to by the medics on the track, before being taken away on a stretcher to be taken to hospital. Hopefully she wasn’t as badly injured as it appeared, and she has now made a full recovery.
The only downside of the evening, was the taxi we booked to pick up us at the end of the session, wasn’t available – Our booking was confirmed, but they couldn’t give us a time that a taxi would actually be available to pick us up! Fortunately I knew where we could get a bus that would take us back to end of our street, so we had a bit of a walk to the bus stop, but we got a bus about 10 mins after we got to the bus stop. The walk to the bus stop was a bit of a challenge for my husband, and to be honest I also struggled a bit too, but we got there. It didn’t take us too long to then get home, so that was good.
Busy week at work too, with lots going o, and lots of ‘things’ breaking this week – many of our app registrations expired in our non-production environments, so needed to be regenerated, and our Bisaccount certificate, again on our non-production environments also stopped working. we shouldn’t have had to reactive to these issue, as instead our service delivery partner (who no longer works with us) should have passed over to us when these registrations were due to expire, and ideally should have set up a process to auto notify us when the app registrations were within, maybe a week, of expiring…but I guess that was me being way too logical!
I’ve also been working towards making some changes to how my team utilise our Azure DevOps boards, and the processes associated with them. This week I did make quite a bit of progress with this, though I did, as always, come up with more questions than answers as some points. By the end of this week though progress was made after discussing options with one of my team. I’ve now made some of the changes to a test project, so I just need to complete the changes to this project, and then do some thorough testing to ensure the changes don’t adversely affect other teams within our project, plus ensure they also provide the functionality expected.
This coming week at work is the week I don’t look forward to, as it’s end of one sprint, and start of a new sprint, so there’s always loads to be done to complete the sprint that is finished, and also plan ahead for the new sprint.
Been a busy week for me as far as Bellshill Salvation Army Band is concerned too, not because the band had any engagement, but I’ve managed to get some of the band lined up to do the band practice devotions for the first few band practices. I also completed my review/evaluation of potential web hosting sites, and got approval from the other band locals to go forward with one of them. This means we will more more confident our band website is kept safe and secure for us, and our visitors. I now need to get started with the process of getting our website moved to a new hosting service. I’m going to be busy!
Still no update on the issue I told you about a few of weeks ago in two blog posts (Accept what we know and don’t know and Accept what we know and don’t know…Part 2!)!
