My week in review – week #33 2023

Well this last working week has been the usual mayhem/busyness of an end of sprint/start of new sprint week, which includes sprint retrospective, sprint planning sessions and finishing with the sprint review. Added to that we’re starting to pull together our training plan for anyone who joins our team.

Added this we’re still trying to resolve the expired app registrations issues, and our expired Bisaccount certificate – there are loads of app registrations to be updated, and it took a bit of time to identify the issue with Bisaccount so we could identify who could resolve it.

It was also a week where the team thought on several occasions that we’d made a breakthrough with some issues we were trying to resolve, however, as seems to be the case with Dynamics solutions, it is always one step forward but two back! It’s frustrating!

I’m on annual leave this coming week, so was also making sure those who will pick up some of the tasks I normally do, had access to the information they need, and were clear what information needed to be provided.

Out with work, now that the schools are back, our Bellshill Salvation Army Band, band practices restarted on Wednesday night. This also meant that we restarted our band #wednesdaydevotions posts, where we share a short thought on a Wednesday morning – It’s normally me that writes these devotions so it’s always a bit more pressure on me to write those devotions in time to share them on the band social media sites on a Wednesday morning. Good news on that front is I’ve already started on the devotions for next Wednesday!

As well as this I’ve been busy starting work on moving our band website to to a new website hosting provider. Still a lot of work to do, and loads to test before we officially switch the band website to the new hosting provider.

It has been a long and tiring week, as between working a lot of extra hours, and so the various things I’ve had to do, I am physically and mentally exhausted. I am therefore glad I now off work until a week on Tuesday! We have a few things to do while I’m off work, but also hoping to have some time to relax.

Busy week at work too, with lots going o, and lots of ‘things’ breaking this week – many of our app registrations expired in our non-production environments, so needed to be regenerated, and our Bisaccount certificate, again on our non-production environments also stopped working. we shouldn’t have had to reactive to these issue, as instead our service delivery partner (who no longer works with us) should have passed over to us when these registrations were due to expire, and ideally should have set up a process to auto notify us when the app registrations were within, maybe a week, of expiring…but I guess that was me being way too logical!

Still no update on the issue I told you about a few of weeks ago in two blog posts (Accept what we know and don’t know and Accept what we know and don’t know…Part 2!)! It’s looking very much like the person concerned is just going to ignore what I said for now, so will be interesting how they approach moving forward with what they want to do, having blatantly ignored my recommendation. Time will tell!
