Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
For many years God’s grace was something I always struggled to understand, both in terms of what it is and why it should be important to me.
Here’s a few definitions of God’s grace.
Grace in Christianity is the free and unmerited favour of God as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowing of blessings.
A common Christian teaching is that grace is unmerited mercy (favour) that God gave to humanity by sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross, thus securing man’s eternal salvation from sin.
Grace is the love of God shown to the unloveable, the peace of God given to the restless, the unmerited favour of God.
No wonder I’ve always found it difficult to understand God’s grace, because why would God show me ‘unmerited mercy’ when I fail him on a regular basis! Fortunately for all of us God understands that we are not perfect, so has promised to always love us and forgive us, all because Jesus died to save us.
You see, all have sinned, and all their futile attempts to reach God in His glory fail. Yet they are now saved and set right by His free gift of grace through the redemption available only in Jesus the Anointed.

I may be older now, and know what God’s grace is, but for me I still find it amazing that God would love someone like me.
God’s love is infinite, God’s grace is amazing, God’s forgiveness is forever.
I pray we may each continue to be amazed by God’s grace every day of our lives.
