A four day working week for me this week, thought it didn’t feel like – Think taking a day off mid-week maybe wasn’t the best move as the whole week I really felt like I had no idea what day of the week it was! Mind you, when we did get to Friday, I was definitely clear it was Friday! LOL
Busy as always at work these days, with lots of competing priorities for myself and my team, so trying to keep the the team focused on our top priority items, so in this sprint we can achieve our sprint goals. We’ll see where we are against our goals come the end of Monday this coming week. This of course means it’s sprint retrospective, sprint estimation, sprint planning and the sprint review this week. Most of my focus this coming week will therefore be on determining whether we met our sprint goals for the sprint that finishes on Monday, and then determining what we hope to achieve in the new sprint.
Other work to pick up on this week is to create the DevOps structure and user stories we need to provide estimates for to help us update some existing processes. Lots of post-its and Sharpies at the ready for an in-person workshop this coming week.
We have a couple of IT modern apprentices starting in my team soon, so we’re working on their workplace just now, so they have a clear guide on what the should be looking at/reading/working on. We will have a mentor allocated to them each day, who will check with them regularly how they are getting on, and if needed, direct them to someone who can help them with any issues they may encounter.
It was a week which included a day I dread every year, as it also marked eight years since my Mum died. I miss her and Dad so much, and think of them daily, but still on these anniversaries I find it very difficult.
The weather has still been great – hot and sunny – all week so I’ve managed to get some much needed work done in the garden to clear some moss off the front path and the back steps, as we’ll as cutting back some bushes/plants which just seem to have grown out of control in the space of just a few weeks! The majority of it is all sorted now, though still needs some more work, so hoping for some dry evenings this coming week so I can complete this gardening work, after I finish work.
Busy week ahead, but hopefully a productive one!
