My week in review – week #42 2023

This last week was the school holiday week here, which meant there were a lot of people at work on annual leave, and while I may have hoped it would mean a quieter week, it was anything but that!

We had an implementation to prepare for yesterday, although it was later agreed to leave the implementation until this coming Monday. I encouraged my team to aim to get all the work we needed to do, bar actually enabling the new online form, by close of business yesterday. Despite some major issues with some of the solution not being in place in the production environment, as we had thought, my team did a fantastic job to first establish what they needed to do to resolve the problem, and then get the additional solution and configuration deployed successfully to our production environment. The team successfully did all the tests we needed to do in the production environment and were then able to hand the system over to the business analyst and the service to do some pre-go-live testing in preparation for go-live on Monday. I am so pleased with the way my team worked together to resolve issues as they were uncovered, and were able to resolve the issues. Hoping for a smooth and problem free go-live for this new process on Monday.

Due to some being off this last week, I was able to get some additional reconfiguration of our Azure DevOps boards done in our testing project – Now I just need to find time to test it before we implement the changes to our main project board. I suspect it may take a few weeks before I get the time to fully test out the changes I’ve made, and am then happy to implement them on our main project.

It’s been a very busy week at work, with some very long days, both in the office at working from home, but I am delighted with what my team has achieved this week, in what would could have become very pressured situation. We’ve also managed to make some decisions about how we go forward with a few things in the coming weeks, so all in all a positive, if busy, working week.

We’ve been getting some work done in our house this week, so that’s meant hoping to do some cleaning/clearing and tidy-up work most evenings, which in turn has made my days even longer. So no surprise I feel I’m struggling a bit physically now.

There continues to be various other things impacting on me these days, making life a bit stressful/challenging. Busy week next week again as we have potentially 2 LIVE implementations to do, plus it’s end of sprint, start of new start week which always makes it challenging.
