Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
If you were to look around our shops and watch the various adverts on TV that are designed to convince us to purchase a particular item or service for a friend or loved one at Christmas, you may be deceived into thinking Christmas is simply just about presents, overeating, partying and Santa.
No wonder as Christians we have a challenge on our hands, to remind the world of the true reason we celebrate Christmas. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with us having fun, and exchanging gifts with friends and family, as long as when we strip away all the gifts, tinsel and decorations, we are left with Christ, as without Christ there would be no Christmas.
God needs us more than ever to share the true meaning of Christmas with people of all ages. As a band we have a unique opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas in person as we visit other churches, and go carolling, as well as via our various social media channels. i.e. website, Facebook and X (Twitter). We simply pray that each member of the band, both individually and collectively, can do all we can to ensure others know that we celebrate Christmas because of Jesus – It’s simply Jesus.
