My week in review – week #50 2023

Last Sunday was a long and incredibly tiring day, after having to be in bells hill for 7am, as the band bus to Forfar was leaving at 7.30am. Each year the band spends a day in Forfar sharing the Christmas message on the 2nd Sunday in December. It’s always a great day, but a tiring one. Added pressure for me this year was that I was doing the reflections/bible thought in both the morning and evening meetings, so even more preparation time needed than what I need just to get the band online presence organised and ready for the festive season. I made it though, and from the feedback I’ve received, both reflections were well received.

Over above the pressure of doing the reflections, I also had all the updates/posts to let folk know what was happening during our day in Forfar, and a write up on the various events, all during the day, after each event, no pressure or anything! If you want to read more you can find all the reports and photos on our Facebook Page and on our website.

As always I took the day after Forfar off work (Monday), and as always was exceeding please that I did as I seemed sorer and more physically exhausted then ever this week. Maybe just the result of the physicality of the day, and the added stress (as those who know me will know I do not find it comfortable speaking on public, but I force myself to do it).

It might only have been a 4 day working week for me, but it felt much longer – probably because I kept getting mixed up with what day it was! Busy week at work again, but did manage to make some progress with some reconfiguration I’ve been working on of our Azure DevOps Kanban team board. So far, so good with my testing.

Next week is my first 5 day week of the month, but on the plus side it’s my last working week of the 2023. It’s also end of current Sprint and start of a next sprint this coming week too, but at least we’ve agree the next sprint will be a 4 week sprint, to get us through the Christmas and New Year period. This means that for the sprint starting this coming week, we need to plan our workload for the next 4 weeks. It’ll therefore be a busy week, especially as these a few people finish early next week for Christmas, while some of us work right through the full working week.

With various challenges outside of work, I really feel I need a break and time to chill, so I really am counting down the days until I finish for Christmas and New Year, it can’t come quick enough!
