Earlier today on Bellshill Salvation Army Band’s Facebook page I shared some devotions. I’d like to share those devotions with you tonight.
Anyone who has travelled for hours in any mode of transport will know that after a long journey, you just want to get into your room, maybe freshen up, and then get some food.
So imagine what it must have been like for Mary and Joseph after their journey to Bethlehem. I’m sure Mary particularly must have been exhausted and they must both have been very frustrated to find there was nowhere for them to rest. Thank goodness for the innkeeper, or who knows where baby Jesus would have been born!
The innkeeper did all he could to try and give shelter to Joseph and his pregnant wife, and was able to find room in his inn for them, albeit, in his stable.
Each of us is the innkeeper who decides whether to let Jesus in or not!
Neal A Maxwell
We are a little like the innkeeper when it comes to our relationship with God – God can do all he can show he loves us, but ultimately it’s down to us to invite Him into our hearts and our lives.
This Christmas I hope that you don’t fill your life up with all things that ultimately are temporary, but instead find room in your heart to let God into your life permanently.
Do you have room for the Saviour? And do you seek Him anew? Have you a place for the One who lived and died for you? Are you as humble as a Shepherd Boy, Or as wise as Men of Old? Would you have come that night? Would you have sought the light? Do you have room?
