Last full week of the year! I seems no time at all since I was writing my first ‘week in review’ post at the start of 2023.
This last week has, on the whole been fairly restful after the busyness of the lead up to Christmas Day, and Christmas Day itself. Last Sunday was a busy day with a family service at Bellshill Salvation Army – I usually avoid attending these kinds of services as I have no family at Bellshill and I don’t like intruding on others families. However I went last week as I had volunteered to go with a number of other folk in the band, to Wishaw University Hospital after the meeting, to spend some time playing carols to the patients, staff and visitors to the hospital.
We played at the hospital for a bit longer than I’d thought we would, so I didn’t get home until well after 2pm. So after getting changed out my uniform, I was of out again to visit my cousins, and drop some Christmas presents off to them. It ended up quite late in the afternoon before I got home again, and finally got some lunch. I was glad by then that tat was me finally finished buying/wrapping and delivering Christmas presents for tis year…as always at this time of year, I vowed that next year I’d get organised for Christmas much earlier. i.e. In November. All I’ll say, is I’ve been saying this for the last few years, and so far the week before Christmas I’ve still ended up having to such about to get everything organised…maybe 2024!
No work for me in this last week as I’m off until a week on Monday. That however hasn’t meant I’ve not been busy doing IT things, as things have still been busy and stressful with some BSAB band things – posts/reports from events last weekend, plus ongoing ‘discussions’ that I could really have done without, where one person feels they have to comment on everything others do/say, when in reality they are not the experts in the area they feel they need to comment/question. It’s relentless, and I can’t deal with this any more, as I do this work in my own time free of charge, and at the moment it doesn’t feel like it’s worth it. Once again I must stress that others are very supportive of what I’m doing which at the moment, is about the only reason I haven’t quit doing this work, as I really don’t need this hassle or stress.
As usual these days Christmas Day for us was just my husband and me. We both got some lovely presents and are grateful for them. Christmas dinner was lovely – in fact so good, we did our usual and had a full repeat of our Christmas dinner on Boxing Day with all our ‘left-overs’. We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas dinner on both days, and were completely stuffed, so we had to have our pudding several hours later both days!
We had a lovely quiet Christmas Day. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day too. I wish you all a great 2024, when it comes!
