Best laid plans

So it’s back to work again for me on Monday, after 2 weeks off over the Christmas and New Year period. This had been meant to be time for me to relax and destress after what has been a very busy, exhausting and stressful month or two. I had hoped to spend time uploading some older photos to our Bellshill Salvation Army band website, but other than that, do no other IT related work, as I really needed a break from it all.

It’s been anything but a break from all things IT, with an ongoing ‘discussion’ about an online process for the band website continuing relentlessly over the last 2 weeks. I do not want to say any more about the details of this on here, but suffice to say, one person who is not an IT professional and has no experience on building an online process, thinks they know best how to build that process. Thankfully others involved in theses discussion, know and understand I have the professional knowledge and experience to advice on this, and have been very supportive, and for that I am very grateful, as these ‘discussions/comments’ have been relentless.

Finally I seem to be ‘free’ from the relentless conversation that has been occupying by time these last 2 weeks, but typically after the stress of all this, I haven’t been feeling great the last couple of days, and have a bit of a cough, a sore head and am all blocked up – I have done a Covid test, and thankfully it’s negative.

Our Christmas Day was, as usual quiet, with just the two of us, but at least it means Christmas dinner is whenever it’s ready, as we don’t have the stress of having to have dinner a specific time. The same can be said for New Year’s Day also with us again just being ourselves, and planning dinner for no particular time, and just eating when we were ready.

For those days where I have been able to chill and relax, I am grateful, however I had been looking forward to 2 full weeks of that, but sadly it wasn’t to be. So back to the busyness of work on Monday again…how I wish I’d had 2 weeks of no IT related work/conversations.
